With over thirty years experience within the industry, twenty of which have been as the MD of a large regional contractor, Mark brings a wealth of experience to the Board.  Mark is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and is now the Executive Chairman of Evoenergy and looking to support the decarbonisation of the UK.

Mark is chair of NFB and a Chartered Director of the Major Contractors Group of the National Federation of Builders and is also a Governor of Moulton College, one of the fastest growing FE construction colleges in the UK

Keith is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, Chartered Construction Manager, Chartered Arbitrator, Panel Adjudicator, Commercial Mediator, Accredited Dispute Board Member, Forensic Surveyor and Visiting Lecturer.

He is a non-solicitor Partner in the Construction & Engineering Team working with other Quantity Surveyor and Solicitor colleagues to provide a complete one stop shop of integrated services in a combined team of experienced construction professionals and specialist construction lawyers advising a wide range of Public and Private Sector Clients and Contractors to manage construction risks and to avoid or resolve both contract and non-contract construction issues.

Amongst other appointments, Keith is a Director and Company Secretary of CE Midlands.

Andrew joined the UK construction industry in 1977 with the manufacturing giant CRH and held a series of sales and business development roles in his early years. It was the ground-breaking Rethinking Construction Report of 1998 that was to change Andrew’s career path as he became involved in change management and best practice, first within CRH and then later as a Board Member and Director of Constructing Excellence.

During this time, he was the inaugural chair of the national ‘Best Practice’ Club network and the public face of Constructing Excellence being responsible for marketing, events, communications and membership.

From 2008 – 2010 he worked as a consultant in ‘lean’ measures, which included Andrew helping to set up and then become one of the first fifteen students of the CWA (Collaborative Working Academy)’ Diploma in collaboration in construction’. Andrew was delighted to be asked to become Chief Executive of the Structural Timber (then the UKTFA) in January 2011. Andrew is now helping to spearhead the drive for Sustainable Construction using more structural timber in construction with a ‘Fabric First’ approach.

Andrew was appointed Chief Executive of Constructing Excellence South West in September 2013 and Chief Executive of Constructing Excellence Midlands in May 2018. In 2011 Andrew was rewarded for his services to best practice within the UK construction industry by being awarded the ‘Achiever Award’ in the 2011 CIOB/CESW South West Built Environment Awards. Andrew is also currently a member of the Construction Leadership Council Construct Zero Board & Housing Forum Board and sits on the Government’s Timber in Construction Working Group.

Cem Budak is a director and leads Arup’s business in the Midlands.

He specialises in growing diverse businesses and teams, and delivering large-scale, complex infrastructure and cities projects. With more than 25 years’ experience, he has worked across Europe, Africa, Asia and the USA on projects spanning several industries, including rail, highways, renewable energy, cities and property.

In his role, he leads almost 1,000 engineers, planners and specialists across two offices in the Midlands, Birmingham and Nottingham. As a project director, he has worked with clients from bidding to conception, design and construction stages.

Before his current role, he was based in Istanbul, leading Arup’s rail business in Europe and leading Arup’s Infrastructure and Cities Group in Turkey. He led teams not only to deliver defined projects but also to create projects that would help enable sustainable city growth.

Nicola is a Member of the Chartered Quality Institute and is a Chartered Quality Professional. She also has a doctorate in Lean Construction.

Nicola has over 25 years’ experience in developing business processes, rationalising and streamlining working practices, developing and delivering change management programmes and configuring and developing products to help drive improvement.

Prior to joining Pick Everard, Nicola was employed by a major UK contractor working on a number of high profile projects including Joint Ventures and acquisitions. This provided Nicola with the opportunity to apply her client facing and strategic skills in a range of sectors.

Nicola is also Construction Excellence (Midlands) Board member, and Chairs CE East Midlands Regional Club.

With over 30 years’ experience in the industry, Paul takes responsibility for strategic projects that Salus undertakes and for the specific regulatory roles that the company performs – to ensure that all professional and non-technical staff deliver a first-class building control service.

He is one of a selected panel of building control professionals chosen by the Construction Industry Council to assess the competencies of Approved Inspectors as they apply and reapply for inclusion on the Approved Inspectors Register on behalf of the Department for Communities.

Paul maintains a personal, contactable relationship with any client who uses the services provided by Salus, negotiating complex issues with architects, developers and fellow Fire Engineers relative to meeting the building regulations.

A proven track record of developing added value and influence from finance functions, leading finance teams and seeking constant improvement through systems, processes and people. Anchored to integrity and accuracy with a focus on strong corporate governance but always seeking commercial understanding and impact.

Andrew joined SCAPE in 2015 after twenty years in construction consultancy, four years in the European motor industry and a spell in the NHS. His role is to proactively support clients in achieving value for money across their capital programme, whilst also helping them to deliver with efficiency, speed and the best community outcomes possible.

Andrew is an expert on multidisciplinary multi-sector projects having worked extensively for clients in Education, Health, Defence and Local Government, as well as many clients in Residential, Commercial and Industrial property. He is also a Chartered Environmentalist and an expert in Sustainable Construction.

Experienced in both public and private sectors in Facility Management, Construction & Refurbishment and trained and experienced in delivering Lean & Collaborative Service Improvement Programmes with demonstrated and achievable outputs.

I work as a SHEQ Advisor for JN Bentley, with experience in environmental management, carbon reduction and social value.

My role primarily focuses on conducting environmental support visits across a range of projects to champion environmental initiatives, offer assistance and guidance where needed. On a day-to-day basis, every day is different as each project is unique or has its own set of different challenges too!

As part of the G4C Midlands committee, I support the committee in organising and hosting events, chairing meetings, and working with the wider Constructing Excellence group.

I hope to use my skills to continue the successful work achieved by the current committee but also expand our events to individuals in higher education; explore opportunities to operate outside of Birmingham and secure sponsorship so that the group can continue to deliver events for our members free of charge.

Seven years as a geo-environmental consultant with experience of contaminated land and large-scale remediation projects, I joined the construction industry and noticed that at most junctures, there were problems with communication or collaboration between project staff, leading to delays or cost implications that were wholly unnecessary.

As part of the G4C East Midlands group, we want to pave the way for future professionals to break out of siloed working, by engaging with early career professionals and students, to showcase the great minds and exciting projects/ careers that the construction industry can provide whilst providing a platform to create debate and positive change.

Emma joined CE as Membership Manager in Jan 2016 and as the Coordinator of the ‘Adopt a School Campaign’ and has now stepped into the role of ‘Digital Marketing Manager’ from Nov 2017.

Emma is in charge of Website updating, Social Media, IT support, Mail list management and Newsletter design for CESW and heads up Marcoms on the Management Team.

She has a background in Events and Project Management and previous roles included Marketing, Social Media, PR and also HR. Emma has also worked as a PA in the construction industry.

Philip builds brands. His agency, Walker/Jansseune, provides marketing communications using in-house copywriting and graphic design to promote products and services in print, on screen and in three dimensions. He has been involved with CE since 2007 and his flyers, websites, brochures and logos have supported hundreds of CE events and initiatives across the entire South West region.

Outside of the built environment, Walker/Jansseune has clients in the corporate, arts, charity, publishing, travel, finance and education sectors. Former and current clients include English Heritage, Guinness, Cancer Research UK, British Energy, Chartered Institute of Marketing, Botswana Tourism Organisation and the Lighting Industry Association. An offshoot of the company also runs public art events such as the Lions of Bath and Swans of Wells animal sculpture trails.

Running a small agency with big ideas, Philip knows that a strong concept is fundamental to all creative thinking. Relevant, communicative, professional and fun ideas can be found at the heart of all his work. Lynn joined CEM as Finance Manager in April 2019 having been CESW Finance Manager since January 2019 and she has subsequently taken on the same role for CE Wales.

Lynn’s early introduction to finance management started at the age of 18 when she spent a total of 7 years with Lloyds Bank and The Woolwich Building Society respectively. After raising 3 children, Lynn then worked as Clerk to the Governors of a Special Educational Needs School and then as Finance and Adminstration Officer at two Primary Schools.

Lynn took on a new challenge in the year 2000 when she started up a new business as owner and Managing Director of a Scanning Bureau, which successfully traded for 8 years. As a scanning consultant from 2008, she developed and introduced scanning solutions to the document storage market, in particular the ‘scan on demand’ retrieval facility, which is now established as a main feature within the industry. More recently, Lynn was Finance and Administration Director of a local golf club for 4 years.

During her career, Lynn has gained significant experience in all aspects of finance, sales, quality assurance, operations and administration which has developed her skills. Over the years she has used a variety of Accounts & Payroll software to ensure Company compliance with HMRC regulations.

Lynn is a keen golfer, swimmer and reader and she also likes to travel to different parts of the world. She has a desire to have more time for drawing and painting in the future, after she has enjoyed her early year involvement with 4 (soon to become 5) small grandchildren.

Tom is a professional singer who uses his available time during the day to help his father as Membership Manager of CESW/CE Midlands. Faye is an Associate Director at Arup.  She specialises in all things flood risk, resilience, and integrated water management.  She has extensive global and local experience, starting her career in Australasia, before returning home to Birmingham, all whilst also working on projects in China, Europe and the Americas.  Faye leads the water team for Arup in Birmingham, and she advises environmental regulators, water companies, infrastructure providers, local councils and other statutory bodies on all elements of flood risk and water management.

She has worked on local projects such as HS2 and developed Birmingham city’s guide to Sustainable Drainage.  She is an advocate for resilient approaches and has supported the likes of Network Rail with the development of its corporate level Water Management Strategy, advising such organisations on how to deal with current and future water challenges.

I currently work for Richard Jackson Engineering Consultants, who have five offices throughout the UK, offering Pre -Planning, Geotechnical Engineering, Structural and Civil Engineering across all sectors.

As Business Development Manager for Richard Jackson Engineering Consultants, Cath’s role covers the whole of the South West, Midlands and Wales. Before her current role in a Civil & Structural Engineering consultancy, Cath has spent over 20 years’ working for a variety of contractors and consultants throughout the UK. covering the civils’, building and various other markets.

She is highly experienced in bid management, bid writing, marketing and business development. Cath promotes, develops and implements marketing and business development processes and practices and is involved with re-branding and social media activities.

Catherine is a past chair of the National Federation of Builders for the Midlands and being on the committee of Women in Property for the Midlands, she is the current Chair of ForCE Coventry and Warwickshire and is a strong advocate of supporting SME companies’. Her passion is encouraging collaboration, building and maintaining relationships and helping others in the industry.

Mark’s day job is as Executive Director: Place for Shropshire Council, where he leads their work in the areas of economic growth & development, infrastructure, assets, planning, housing, waste, leisure & culture. He also chairs the River Severn Partnership. Mark is currently focussed on a range of projects and initiatives, such as bringing forward the development a new relief road to the north of Shrewsbury plus the redevelopment of the Riverside area of the town. He is also driving the new economic strategy and implementing plans to develop 1,000 new homes through the Councils own housing company.

Prior to joining Shropshire in 2018 he was a partner in an international private sector consultancy, but previous to that held key positions as the Strategic Director for Development & Culture at Birmingham City Council and Chief Executive of Newcastle under Lyme Borough Council. He also led the establishment and management of the Greater Birmingham Local Enterprise Partnership, helping to lay the foundations for the West Midlands Combined Authority.

I’ve always loved great buildings and I take pride in the fact I’ve played a small part in the development of some interesting projects.

I started out in construction law in 1988, having previously worked on building sites, so I have a thorough, working knowledge of the industry. I am an accredited adjudicator and mediator, and I am also on the Technology and Construction Solicitors Association national committee and adjudication sub-committee. I have also chaired a Constructing Excellence Best Practice Club for over 8 years.

My expertise extends beyond the law as I’m very commercially focused. Wherever I can, I always look for commercial solutions to problems and even find business opportunities for my clients.

My dedicated and results-focused approach to work is part of my desire to get the job done, even if that means working out of normal office hours. I act for a range of people and businesses including main contractors, specialist sub-contractors, funders and developers, sorting out contracts and any disputes they might have on building projects. I’ve been described as tenacious and I’m also very practical and hard working. Once I get hold of something, I don’t give up until it’s sorted.

My passion for both modern and ancient buildings extends into my downtime too, and I like to visit grand designs in the UK and abroad. I also enjoy spending time with my family, rugby and fast cars.

I am a Project Manager with 4 years of experience in the field, currently working for Thornton Firkin, a construction consultancy firm. My journey in project management began with managing youth projects for Lincoln City Foundation. I then transitioned to Lincoln College, where I gained diverse project experience, including managing the Air & Space Institute in Newark.

Previously a teacher, I have effectively leveraged my transferable skills to advance rapidly in my project management career. My recent role at Thornton Firkin has further developed my project management skillset, specifically in construction.

I am committed to bringing innovative ideas to the Construction Excellence Committee and engaging the next generation in critical industry discussions.

Dhiran is a chartered architect, and is a director of Vagdia and Holmes, Chartered Architects, Coventry.

He schooled in Coventry, and read architecture at the University of Nottingham. He became a Chartered Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects in February 2003, and is now a practising architect, running an architectural practice based in Coventry.

The Practice client and project portfolio include ecclesiastical buildings, conservation work, private one-off residential projects, retail and commercial projects, and developer-led initiatives.

Dhiran has contributed significantly to the profession and to the industry, through roles such as chairing the RIBA West Midlands, chairing the local Constructing Excellence Group FORCE, and a Past Chair of the Coventry Branch of the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce.

Noel has worked with Construction Excellence for over 15 years and is currently the Chair of CE Midlands – Climate Crisis Theme Group that provides an industry wide platform to discuss, share and challenge ‘Whole Life Carbon’ thinking, learning and adoption.

As a qualified RIBA Chartered Architect, Noel has an in-depth knowledge of complex developments operating in a highly regulated and commercially fluid environment. He has extensive experience, gained over 30 years, of developing and managing client and project team relations, project managing, programming and delivering positive outturns on large scale, often complex, projects and frameworks, across the diverse sectors of Public and Private in the UK.

A familiar face across the Midland property scene, Noel’s creativity and energy has been responsible for running and growing a series of major architectural practices in the Midlands, developing their overarching strategies and staff training programmes for Whole Life Carbon thinking, Environmental Management Strategy (ISO14001 2015) and Health, Fire & Safety.

Noel is passionate to challenge architects, and the whole design team, to produce smart designs and use available technologies to ensure that structures generate minimal harmful effects to the ecosystem and their communities.

Head of Discipline and Associate Professor– Built Environment, University of Derby

A Chartered Construction Manager and a built environment educator with more than 20 years’ experience in the UK and international higher education sector. Joanna is passionate and committed in developing and educating learners who will become future construction professionals. She took up the current role as Head of Discipline and Associate Professor– Built Environment, University of Derby in 2016. Joanna’s role combines all aspects of academic leadership and programme development, together with liaison with key Industry stakeholders such as built environment professional bodies, relevant government departments, industry training board and employers.

Prior to joining University of Derby, Joanna held academic leadership positions in the University of Salford and Deakin University, Australia, as well as Senior lectureships at Nottingham Trent University and Sheffield Hallam University. She has been leading professional accreditation for undergraduate and postgraduate construction and built environment courses in the UK and Australia and developed international collaborative partnership courses.

Joanna is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building (FCIOB) and Principal Fellow of Higher Education Academy (FFHEA). Joanna is member of Construction Industry Tracing Board (CITB) National Council – England. Sue is a social value manager for Stepnell’s East Midlands region. A relative newcomer to the construction industry, just five years ago, she has a background in volunteering alongside self-employment and employment in education and banking. She is strongly committed to equity and passionate about empowering people to improve their circumstances and experiences.

Natasha is a Social value manager for the Midlands region at Stepnell. She is passionate about social value, committed to creating meaningful change through her work and strives to make a positive impact in the local community. Previously she was a national team manager for a training provider, working with hard-to-reach NEETs and is currently completing a L4 qualification in Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability.

Currently I am the City of Lincoln Royal British Legion Chair person and the Construction and Property Ambassador at the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce.

Andrew Wright is a Reader and joined the Institute in September 2004. He is Subject Group Leader for teaching of Energy and Sustainable Develoment. Research interests include low energy buildings, energy in industry, and renewable energy in the developing world.

Following a degree in Applied Maths at Sheffield, he took an MSc in Atmospheric Physics at Imperial College, London, and for his PhD investigated computer modelling of the thermal performance of industrial buildings. Before coming to De Montfort, Andrew was the Programme Manager of a distance learning MSc course in Sustainable Electrical Building Services at UMIST (now University of Manchester), where he was also a researcher in the Tyndall (North) Centre for Climate Change Research. He has previously worked for the UK Electricity Industry at EA Technology Ltd near Chester; Newcastle University; and the Building Design Partnership in Manchester.

He has written many journal papers relating to energy use in buildings, and numerous reports for EA Technology ranging from the energy impacts of teleworking, to the effect of distributed generation on the electricity network. Andrew is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers, and a member of the Energy Institute. He has contributed to the design guides on Environmental Design (Volume A) and Weather (Volume J), and is a member of the Schools Design Group. He has also contributed to reports for Ofgem,  DECC and the Department of Health.

Having worked in education and training for the past 20 years, I’ve worked with many businesses throughout the West Midlands to help improve their bottom line through developing their staff. Whether it’s a workshop, an apprentice or a degree, together we look at the business issues and how best to overcome them with the right skills training, accessing funding wherever possible, and generally looking for the most cost effective solutions for everyone.

Mike is CEO of Building Alliance CIC and also a Visiting Professor, Manufacturing and the Built Environment, Birmingham City University.

Mike is currently driving many initiatives to achieve our climate change objectives, whilst ensuring resilience in the built environment.  A strong believer in the power of collaboration he has built an extensive industry and academic network, identifying, and acting on common goals.

He is the founder of the Futures Group, the UK cross-industry, and highly influential new homes “think tank”.  Mike is currently involved in research aimed at improving the quality in building. This includes Future Homes Standard Demonstrators, preventing overheating, enhancing indoor air quality, addressing the fire risk, reducing the use of single life plastics, decarbonising the built environment, and embracing the skills gap.

I am a mechanical engineer with 20+ years Senior Management experience working within Higher Education, Engineering and Manufacturing sectors including Automotive, Aerospace, Civil Engineering and Rail

My work and career history to-date has involved responsibility for implementation of Organisational Learning & Development, Operational Productivity and Efficiency, Change Management, and introduction of World Class Manufacturing methodologies within a multi-site complex matrix industrial environment.

Operations Director (2005-2015) for the development of the embryonic West Midlands Manufacturing Club SME Network which attracted £5million European and UK regional development funding to support implementation of digitization and innovation focused change management activities including consultancy and delivery of learning programmes to a network of over 500+ businesses in the Black Country and West Midlands.

As Head of Industrial Partnerships & Engagement for the University of Wolverhampton I was responsible for the interpretation of the UK government Industrial white paper and the alignment of the teaching, research and knowledge transfer provision for the Faculty of Science & Engineering to support regional development objectives in areas including Advanced Transportation, HVM Smart City, Automotive, Aerospace , Defence & Cyber Security.

Dr Chris Goodier[1] BEng(Hons) PhD pgCert MCIOB FICT FHEA MCS, Reader in Construction Engineering and Materials, is the Director of Loughborough’s Centre for Innovative and Collaborative Construction Engineering (CICE[2]) and is an expert in offsite, modern methods of construction (MMC), modular construction as well as concrete technology. He is an experienced Civil Engineer, Chartered Builder and Researcher with 25 years’ experience of all aspects of construction, including contracting, consultancy and research.

Authored books include Design in Modular Construction[3] (2014) and the RICS Future of UK Housebuilding (2010), and he is an international expert witness for offsite/modular construction[4]. He recently was invited to give evidence in person to the Housing, Communities and Local Government Committee inquiry into MMC[5].

He worked previously for 7 years for Laing O’Rourke Civil Engineering and BRE and was the Lead Expert for construction on the UK Government’s Foresight Sustainable Energy Management and the Built Environment futures project. He has authored more than 200 publications in the field of offsite construction, construction technology, concrete materials, construction management, and the future of the construction sector.

Paul is a chartered building surveyor and a fellow member of various professional bodies. During 2012-2015 Paul was the first academic to be elected as RICS West Midlands Chairman and prior to this was previously the youngest West Midland Chairman of the ICWCI.

Paul holds a wealth of managerial and practical experience within the built environment spanning over 30 years and has worked with a host of high profiled practitioners. Originally working within the City of Birmingham Architects department, Paul has held various titles from Architectural technician, Senior Clerk of Works, Building surveyor, line manager and later Chartered Building Surveyor running a team of ten litigation surveyors.

Educated at the University of Wolverhampton to degree level and later at Sheffield Hallam (MSc) Paul was invited back in 2007 in the capacity of visiting lecturer to contribute to the delivery of building surveying and construction management. Paul is currently completing his professional Doctorate award at Middlesex University. Paul is extremely research active and Paul has published over ten academic papers and attended over ten conferences.

In 2008 Paul moved away from industry to take up a role as senior academic within the built environment and now contributes to a host of UK and transnational courses accredited by the RICS, CIOB, ICWCI and Qsi. This extends to delivery of courses in Qatar, Hong Kong and includes delivering external in-company courses and supporting the University with pioneering initiatives.

Paul was also one of the early pioneers of on-line distance learning courses at the University and contributed to the development of curriculum and delivery of the courses.

I specialise in issues of value and how it relates to, and is perceived in, the built environment. Originally a Quantity Surveyor, I rapidly realised that value has little to do with price or any other numerical representation. After finding this in client-side QS practice, I returned to academia to investigate value analysis and value management.

While I remain impassioned about the insights these techniques can bring to investment effectiveness (and, others than I would argue, improving value for money), I concluded that they have little to do with value in its truest sense.

This insight caused me to further study the nature of design itself and the affective consequences of the artefacts we create: not just in construction. This clarified my thoughts in the intractable relationship of value and the values of those perceiving it.

On studying these philosophical principles of value further and, becoming dismayed by the shortcomings of the DQI and advocates of design patterns, I sought my own funding to delve further into these issues.

I teach Construction Management, and am Programme Director for BSc(Hons) Construction Engineering Management at Loughborough University. Prior to my current post, I was Lloyds TSB Insurance Post-doctoral Research Fellow (2001-2002), investigating remediations of flood-damaged domestic properties. Then, I worked as a Post-doctoral Research Associate at Loughborough University (2002-2007), where I was involved in several industry and government-sponsored research projects, including ‘HyCon’, ‘Respect for People’, ‘the Big Ideas’. This post was followed by Senior Lecturership (2007-2012) at Coventry University, where I led Construction Management Applied Research Group and won research funding for Community Resilience to Extreme Weather (CREW), virtual collaborative building design (Hewlett Packard Catalyst Initiative), Build Your English (BYE, EU Long-life Learning Programme) projects.

Since starting my current post in 2012, I have led research initiative in two strands; digital design and construction and flood resilience in the context of low and middle-income countries. The digital strand has brought the award-winning ‘BIM-Hub’ (https://bim-hub.lboro.ac.uk/[RS1]  ) project that puts collaborative working in the construction industry under the spotlight and tests the Building Information Modelling (BIM) mode of working. This was followed by Digital Enablers for CONstruction Transformation (DECONT; https://www.ucl.ac.uk/bartlett/construction/about-us/transforming-construction-network-plus/small-projects#Digital%20Enablers%20for%20Construction%20Transformation%20(DECONT)[RS2] ), which was aimed to develop future scenarios and roadmap for the adoption of digital technologies to integrate off-site manufacturing and on-site construction. In flood resilience strand, I led Blue-Green Infrastructure in Semarang (BuGIS; https://bugis.lboro.ac.uk/[RS3] ) project that aimed to increase the flood resilience of Semarang city (Indonesia) by integrating Blue Green Infrastructure (BGI) concepts into urban development planning. I was pivotal in obtaining funding for FloodFinJava project which promotes proactive financial planning for mitigating the impact of flooding in Central Java, Indonesia. I coordinated Researcher Links workshop and Second City Higher Education Partnerships in Indonesia, and founded UK-Indonesia Researcher Network (UKIREN; https://ukiren.lboro.ac.uk/[RS4]  ) and – all were funded by the British Council.

I was World Class Professor at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS, Surabaya), funded by Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, Indonesia (2017-2018) and Visiting Professor at Ryerson University, Canada (2010, 2012). I was PhD external examiner at Universities of Salford, Aston, Wolverhampton (UK) and KNUST (Ghana). I am currently external examiner for BSc Construction Management at Kingston University and MSc Construction Management at the University of Reading.

Tim is an experienced business manager with over 20 years of experience working at director level in commerce and the public sector. This includes development and management of new start companies and delivery of challenging projects on the university, government and business margins.

Tim was instrumental establishing the Energy and Bioproducts Research Institute (EBRI) at Aston University which carries out world-leading research into new and innovative ways of converting biomass into sources of sustainable energy, using thermochemical, biological and catalytic processes.

So far the institute has worked with over 300 businesses, created over 324 jobs and generated £29 million in regional GVA impact.
