G4C Midlands Breakfast – An Introduction to Fire Engineering

Join us for our G4C Midlands Breakfast networking event this August.

Our speaker for this month is Adam Eaton – Director at Trigon, joined by Daniel Macias – Graduate Fire Engineer. Together, they’ll be delivering an introduction to fire engineering.

Fire Engineering is a rapidly growing discipline in a constantly changing regulatory landscape, with a focus on protection of life, property and the environment from fire.
Fire Engineers provide design advice as a key part of multi-disciplinary design teams throughout all RIBA Stages, undertake calculations for smoke and temperature spread, evacuation modelling, CFD simulations, detailed fire dynamics and structural assessments.

Join us as we discuss: ‘what is fire engineering?’, ‘what is the role of a fire engineer’ and ‘when can fire engineering be used?’

These events offer a unique blend of thought leadership through inspiring guest speakers and opportunities for collaboration and networking.
Come along to expand your professional network and meet with other like-minded individuals in the construction sector, all with the addition of FREE breakfasts, teas and coffees.

Adam Eaton
(Director, MEng CEng MIFireE)

Adam is a Chartered Engineer and member of the Institution of Fire Engineers. He has over 10 years of experience, having gained a Master’s Engineering degree in Civil and Structural Engineering from the University of Sheffield. Adam has experience in developing fire strategies for complex buildings within various sectors across the UK and internationally.

Previously as a National Lead Director of Fire Engineering at a multidisciplinary engineering firm, Adam has a proven history of developing and leading teams who develop coordinated fire safety strategies that meet the objectives of the client, architect and design team whilst satisfying the Approving Authority including local Fire Service.

He has gained vast experience on a large variety of projects throughout the UK and internationally: from 45,000-seater World Cup Stadia in Qatar to 160m tall residential buildings in the UK, and a large scale 1,400 home development in Birmingham originally designed as the venue for the Athletes Village during the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Adam is experienced in numerous Fire Engineering techniques and methods, such as Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) modelling, evacuation modelling and smoke control calculations.

Daniel Macias
(Graduate Fire Engineer, BEng (Hons) AIFireE)

Daniel graduated from Kingston University in 2022 with a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil and Infrastructure Engineering.

Since joining Trigon as a Graduate Fire Engineer, he has developed an in-depth understanding of the British and international regulations, guidance documents and standards, whilst developing an impressive proactive approach to addressing problems for both new and existing buildings.

He recognises that the field of fire safety engineering is constantly evolving in response to new challenges and advancement in technology. As such, he has conducted inhouse research into the fire safety challenges posed by electric vehicles (EVs), and developed innovative solutions to address the increased fire risk.

His role includes supporting fire safety strategies for a range of projects, conducting fire risk assessments, and undertaking computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modelling of fire and smoke. He has been supporting the fire safety design on a range of projects in multiple sectors from the feasibility stage, through design and construction until handover. Daniel’s long-term aspiration is to become a Chartered Engineer.
