Tour of James Cond, Centre for Sustainable Construction – University College Birmingham
Join CE Birmingham and Black Country Club for a tour of the retrofitted James Cond building, now home to the UCB’s Centre for sustainable construction.
Deb Bunce, Head of Sustainable Construction, will show us around the 1920s Art Deco building.
Deb will explain how efficient building methods, materials, and technologies turned the building into an EPC A rated sustainable construction centre.
The James Cond site is a notable example of what can be done with retrofitting a building to repurpose it for the future.
The new Centre for Sustainable Construction is now a facility where learners are trained on key skills that support employers and supply chains, crucially within an environment conducive to sustainable methods of construction.
On the day of the tour all visitors must ensure the following health and safety guidelines are followed.
· The PPE provided (pink Hi Vis) is worn at all times on the workshop floor
· Appropriate footwear is worn, no open toe shoes or high heels.
· Visitor badges are visible at all times.
· Stay within the guided areas.
